Jet Lag Bath Remedy

Don’t lose any of your precious vacation or business time due to the disorienting effects of long-distance travel or jet lag.

This remedy is the simplest and most natural bath cure for jet lag that I have come across. It was developed by a doctor from the South Sea Islands many years ago.

Use this simple treatment as soon as possible after getting off the plane. Within the first few hours is best. The longer you wait, the less effective it is. I tried it once after three days and it didn’t do much, so I had to “hold” the effects of jet lag for a while longer.

This bath-therapy against jet lag only lasts a little over an hour and can be done at any time of the day or night.

GOOD NEWS: You can bathe two for the price of one!! This is a soak, not a bath, and the person who likes the water temperature higher can soak first, then the other person can use the same water.

1. Pack one 8-ounce box of baking soda and one cup of Epsom salts* in an airtight bag or plastic container. (Label it ‘Epsom salts’ so Customs don’t freak out that you’re smuggling drugs.)

2. As soon as you arrive at your hotel or destination, fill the tub with water as hot as you can safely tolerate it and dissolve the salts and soda in the water.

3. While the tub fills, drink at least 8 ounces of water, preferably more. Air travel is notoriously dehydrating.

4. The water level should cover your shoulders, so you may need to slide down into the tub. It’s okay for your knees to stick out of the water. The thing is to submerge your entire torso.

5. Soak for 7 to 10 minutes. Soak only, do not wash with soap.

6. Do not cross your arms over your body, keep them at your sides. Do not cross your legs or ankles while in the tub.

7. Get up slowly from the tub after 7 to 10 minutes and pat dry. Do not rub your skin with the towel or make sudden movements.

8. Lie on your back and cover yourself with at least one sheet so you don’t get cold too quickly. I rest for an hour.

9. While resting, keep your arms at your sides and your legs away from your body. Do not cross your arms across your body and do not cross your legs or ankles. – Just like in the bathtub. If you’re more comfortable with a pillow under your knees, that’s fine.

10. After an hour of rest, you can get up, shower and continue with your trip; or you can roll over and go to sleep at night.

You may want to add a few drops of essential oils to the Epsom salts or baking soda before dissolving in the bath. To relax, add lavender; to balance, add lavender and rosemary; To energize at the start of the day, add grapefruit, lemon, and/or a dash of mint.

This safe and simple jet lag treatment will rebalance the nervous system, restore the pH of cells, relax muscles and reset your body clock to the present moment – holistic at its finest!

When you wake up from rest or sleep, you’ll feel refreshed and fully prepared to make the most of your trip. And take a bath when you get home too! Have a good trip!
