1995 Chevy Pickup – How to Remove the Steering Wheel

Any vehicle is subject to wear and tear, just like any part of the vehicle. No matter how expensive and reputable it is, there is no change to this rule. The same goes for the steering wheel on the 1995 Chevy truck. The only way out of this problem is to replace the steering wheel with a new one.

Step 1 – Disconnect the Negative Terminal

First of all, make sure you have an open key handy. This would be useful to disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. Now you will need to locate the air bag. Let the vehicle rest for almost 30 minutes before continuing.

Step 2 – Remove the airbag from the steering wheel

For this step, you will need to turn on the truck’s ignition and turn the steering wheel clockwise. Once you can locate the hole behind the steering wheel, use the screwdriver to pry the air bag out of the steering wheel.

Step 3: Remove the wiring

It has only partially done its job with the air bag. Next, he must turn the steering wheel of the 1995 Chevy truck counterclockwise. You will have to turn the wheel up to 180 degrees in the process. You can now access the airbag and you can easily disconnect the wiring harness.

Step 4: Unbolt the steering wheel

The obvious next step is to unscrew the center bolt. This is located in the center of the wheel. The extractor must be inserted with the correct ratchet and socket. Tightening the nut located in the center of the extractor will help us remove the flywheel from the column.

As you can see, replacing the wheel is a matter of a few minutes and will require the right tools to salvage it. Once this is done, the frustrating truck will automatically transform into a joy to drive.

Such tasks can be performed by the common man and do not require you to rely on mechanics. The 1995 Chevy Pickup is one of the rugged and reliable vehicles and can be brought back to its true form in these few steps.
