Tips to improve your chip shot

There are several game improvement tools out there to help the average golfer cut down on their game. One of the most difficult parts of any golfer’s game is chipping. There are several things you can try to improve your game at home, before you go out and buy the latest and greatest gadget to help your game. The first and simplest is to get a bucket of some kind and clear some space.

If you have a garden it will work better. Place the bucket approx. 10 to 15 yards away and jump around 50 to 60 balls trying to land at least ten in the bucket. This will not take into account the speed and slope of the green, but will simply train you to land the ball where you want it to.

As you start to do more and more of these, try to move the bucket further away and so on. Another cool trick is to use ping pong balls. Chopping up ping pong balls on your living room rug will help control spin. If you can’t spin a ping pong ball, it will be very difficult to control your golf ball’s spin on and around the greens.

The last and final trick is to keep your head down and focused on the target, in this case the golf ball. Make sure you maintain eye contact with the ball at all times during the chip. Pulling on the head can result in chipped or skulled shots. Do this with about 100 golf balls and keep your head down and eyes focused on the target.
