THE STUD LESBIAN: The evolution of a revolution
Many are still wondering, what is a Stud? In my opinion, stud is a catch-all term that is loosely used to describe a group of strong, confident, empowered, and sexy women. Ultimately a force of nature! A stallion is proud, fierce and passionate about all of her convictions. She is determined, ambitious, driven and should not be silenced! A stud is an aggressive and intelligent spiritual woman who is a masculine lesbian! A stud is a woman who defines strength, not allowing or affirming anyone else’s definition. She defines her! She is the epitome! A stallion is the best option, the cream of the crop and definitely the choice of the litter!
Stallions are passionate and affectionate. They are compassionate and loving. Many studs want long term relationships and marriage. There are even stallions who want to have and raise children! I think stallions make great parents because they have a spectrum of talents, upbringing, and spirituality. Stallions are presented with a high sense of pride, exuding a natural beauty that no cosmetic can provide.
Many studs are spiritual and embrace spiritual practices instead of organized religion. Many studs have adopted teachings from non-denominational churches, also metaphysics and even Buddhism! Regarding Biblical Scripture, scholars have taken the position that the ancient text and the condemnation do not reflect our positive and loving lifestyles.
A stud would never wear clothes with frills, flowers, or polka dots! A stallion would never wear frills; Polish your nails with bright, fun colors, or wear a push-up bra. A stud would never wear pantyhose, stilettos, full makeup, or flashy jewelry. A stud would never wear sexy feminine lingerie. Studs would never wear flowers in their hair or super tight clothes!
Some common names for female stallions are butch, dom, boi, aggressive, drag king, stone butch, top and the list goes on. All tacos are different. Some stallions are stone-butch, not identifying with anything feminine or feminine. There are also women considered soft studs who may have an androgynous appearance or personality. There are studs who are athletes, some have hip hop looks, and others wear tailored suits by Armani and Stacy Adams. Many studs are bikers decked out in leather chaps and a skull cap, while others have a country western look!
When I was younger, I felt uncomfortable and misunderstood. It looked like a child! As adolescence faded, I noticed that the way I dressed was intimidating and inciting to heterosexuals. It made them feel uncomfortable. I didn’t have a problem with my appearance, but everyone else did! As I became a stud, images of what was considered appropriate would continually flood my consciousness. Everywhere I looked, church, TV, and all over the magazines, feminine women were more accepted. The package I presented was not ideal. My aunt used to say, “A decent lady is supposed to look like this, sit like this, and smile like this. A respectful woman is supposed to walk like this, act like this, and talk like this.” She had absolutely no interest in being a proper lady! I just wanted to play basketball and update my Hot Wheels collection!
What the thumbtacks represent challenges people’s ideals, morality and their perception of God and Biblical scriptures. What we represent transcends the limits of people. We make people think.
Many ask why are stallions so masculine, why are you so tough? Well, historically stud/masculine women have been systematically discriminated against, exiled from society and even killed. In the 1950s, a masculine woman had to be tough for many reasons. Above all, she had to fend off the many horrors of being masculine in early American society. The masculine women provided for themselves, not depending on anyone for sustenance or survival. In essence, they did the same manual labor as their male counterparts.
I think studs appear masculine to the outside world because the world can’t relate. Stallions feel a certain sense of strength and pride in expressing their true nature. Stallions are often criticized by society for trying to look like a man. The fact is that studs want to look like men. Stallions want to be comfortable. They want to see how they feel emotionally or spiritually.
The masculinity of a stallion is a broad spectrum. Did you know that many Olympic athletes have been disqualified for not being genetically female? My dear friend Marie is phenotypically female, but genetically male! Marie is not only hormonally and chemically masculine, but she also has masculine attributes! According to Marie’s doctors, Marie was born with the natural overproduction of the male hormone testosterone. She has minimal to no production of female hormones. So I ask, are stallions unfairly discriminated against because they may have more male chromosomes or be born with an overproduction of testosterone?
In Western society every birth is expected to be conceived with XY or XX chromosomes. Usually, those with XY or XX chromosomes will grow up to be either a male or a female. They have external and internal organs that are clearly distinguishable. Therefore, those who are born XY or XX will be naturally attracted to the opposite sex. This is often not the case when a girl is born with male chromosomes and hormones!
Another fact is that hormones trigger nature or aggression. Genetically, many girls are exposed to the male androgen (sex hormone) called congenital adrenal hyperplasia, or CAH. Girls exposed to the male hormone grow up looking and acting like boys. Initially these boys are called tomboys because they exhibit a rough or masculine nature. They are athletic, muscular, manly, and much more aggressive than females born without the male hormone. Instead of being attracted to female-gendered toys, clothing, or activities, they are anything but. The male androgen influences his likes, dislikes, and orientation. Many studs/lesbians grow facial hair and deepen their voices during adolescence! Ultimately, all of your behaviors are controlled by this hormone! Some of these traits are all male/male characteristics.
The best way to understand the magnitude of this information is that sex and gender are two different things. They have nothing to do with sexual deviance. Studs/lesbians don’t try to be men!
Of course, conservatives want this scientific information to remain hidden so that we can continue to be permanent targets of biased laws, violence, and discrimination.
Once again, I think it’s ridiculous to discriminate against anyone. Throughout history, the Bible has been used to discriminate against gay people. The fact is that the books of the Bible were written in a pre-scientific age. The authors of the numerous books were unaware of sexual minorities, chromosomes, DNA, or testosterone-producing women. They didn’t have the technology to determine the real facts about the other sexes and the chromosome variations we are born with.
Like society, our community is extremely diverse; there are many types of stallions from numerous origins, from all cultures and religions. Some cultures are accepting of lesbian women, most are not. Many cultures like ours have been taught to oppress anything that is different or that they don’t understand.
One of the biggest problems in the gay and lesbian community is homophobia. Homophobia is born from biblical and religious ignorance that fuels the pain that studs fight daily. This virus causes a lack of visibility, a feeling of helplessness and negative media stereotypes. Because of this ignorance it is believed that all studs hate men! Stallions want to be or imitate a man. The studs think they are men, therefore they have a mental illness! Stallions are the abomination! It is believed that all stud abusers, womanizers and disease carriers! All of these myths arose from fear, ignorance, and biblical intolerance.
The solution to eliminate these negative aspects is to provide people with positive information that reflects our image, our politics, struggles and triumphs.
The one-sided biased laws of this land, and all that governs it, have only STUD quenched and strengthened our spirits!
Of course, church, school, the medical center, Uncle Leroy, and Grandma require any masculine woman to be feminine and visually pleasing in his eyes. We are expected to be soft, passive, demure, and aesthetically pleasing to everyone outside of ourselves. But that is not our reality. I refused to ignore the real me. I have been labeled all kinds of things as dyke and dagger. Through all of that, I accepted my diversity and my differences from others. I have a clear understanding and acceptance of who I am and who we are.
My prayer is that the masculine women will start a revolution, a massive movement towards mainstream visibility! The visibility of masculine women and the passion behind it is long overdue!
The stallions are a force with unlimited potential and power. I feel it is imperative to dispel stereotypes and myths. We must empower ourselves and not allow anyone or the thought process to control us. All women strive for acceptance, love and self-affirmation, but for us it is different. We’re different.
This country is ALWAYS about community and unity. It doesn’t matter if the person is a tough stud with fifty tattoos, hip hop gear, or a shiny new helicopter. We are a strong and confident nation. It is time for us to rise up and embrace who we are below the surface.
What the world needs to know is that God/Spirit has never created anything outside of himself! Never. Everything we can see and touch comes from a single source! God does not judge, hate or kill. God is not homophobic, discriminatory, or sexist. God would never use a spiritual text to marginalize his own creation. God does not love with conditions, nor is he compartmentalized God.
