Nintendo Wii – Family Time

This machine has saved my family from total ruin. My children would come home from school every day, run to their rooms and sit in front of their televisions or computers and stay there until they were called for dinner. Then they’d go back to shoveling their dinners, only to run upstairs and do it all over again.

He didn’t even know who they were anymore. What happened to coming home and running to your parents to tell you how your day was? Those times, I thought, were over. They didn’t want to go out and play with their friends, which for me were the most memorable moments I had as a child. They weren’t doing ANY exercise, ANY.

Well, then my friend told me that she picked up the Nintendo Wii and now they have family time twice a week. Now, I thought she was just trying to make me feel better about video games. She kept trying to convince me, but it just wasn’t working. Until, one day, my son came home, walked through the front door, ran upstairs, and as he ran, he finally said ‘HELLO’. I said to myself, what have I done? I finally called my friend and she told me where to buy one and that they cost around $200.00.

I ran to the store to pick one up. But guess what, they were SOLD OUT!! It took me almost 5 months to get one, but it was worth the wait. Once I waited 5 months to get one, I realized there is definitely something to this machine.

It came with the Wii Sports game. I figured that was enough for now. I picked up 3 extra controllers and Nunchuks (advice from my friend as I hadn’t picked up enough) and went home. All that was going through my head, ‘Please let this save my family!’

So, I got home, went to the living room and started unpacking my ‘family savings’. Surprisingly, I didn’t need to use the instructions to set it up! Very simple setup. He put the volume very high on the television and I left. The first game I think of, bowling. It took about 10 minutes for them to start coming down the stairs and asking me what I was doing.

It took them 5 minutes to get the controller from me. So my son had seen the other controllers on the table and asked if he could open one for himself and one for me. I was shocked. It took us a few minutes to figure out how to have more than one player and for the next 2 1/2 hours we were laughing, talking and working out.

Since that day, we have ‘Family Game Night’ at least twice a week and have added over 20 titles to our collection.

Getting the Nintendo Wii has saved my family and in just a few short months, I’ve found out more about my kids and what’s going on in their lives without a fight.

Thank you Nintendo Wii – You saved my family!
