Get healthier with a standing desk

A sedentary lifestyle has been linked to a large number of health problems. Some of these include obesity, heart disease, cancer, back pain, and problems with blood flow. The problem with our modern society is that more and more of us are sitting for longer periods of time. Many of us will go to work and sit at a desk for hours without taking a break to stand. Also, when we get home, we usually ‘chill out’ by spending more time sitting on the couch, or at another computer desk playing games or surfing the Internet. After that, we lie down and start the whole cycle again. Very little of our day is spent on our feet, and this is becoming a big problem.

Sitting has really started to take its toll on a normal, healthy society. Doctors and the media have even started using the term “sitting disease” to describe someone who has been sitting too long and doesn’t have enough movement in their body. Sitting has been linked to health problems like obesity, heart disease, and early death.

Some workers in office settings have noticed that due to sitting, they take more days off with back pain and generally lead an unhealthy lifestyle, which also means reduced work productivity. Many companies are now testing standing desks for their employees. These desks allow you to sit and your computer. You can maintain an upright position with better posture. A standing desk will also burn three times more calories than sitting and increase blood flow to the legs and other parts of the body.

Fortunately, many computer furniture manufacturers have figured out a way to make a desk that’s not only sitable, but also adjustable for standing. Standing for long periods of time is also not good for our bodies, and being able to adjust between sitting and standing is important for our overall health. As I’ve mentioned, sitting down can be really dangerous over time. If you spend a lot of time in front of your computer, a standing desk may be perfect for feeling better and staying healthy.
