America’s Largest Canyon Tour by Train

For a true Western experience and a unique way to visit America’s Grand Canyon, travelers should board the Grand Canyon Railroad for a thrilling ride to the largest canyon in the country and step back into a time when the rails they were the best way to travel.

Using vintage locomotives, the GCR takes thousands of visitors each year from Williams, Arizona to America’s greatest canyons.

The locomotives and carriages have been painstakingly restored to provide a true ‘back in time’ atmosphere for commuters who can experience old-fashioned train robbery as well as entertain the strolling musicians.

The original rail lines were built in 1901 and provide commuters a 130 mile round trip with five levels or classes of service: Coach, First, Dome, Deluxe Lounge, and Deluxe Dome with prices ranging from $ 68 and $ 179 per person.

Those in coach class will enjoy traveling in streamlined-age coaches with bench-style seats in classic 1950s cars with air conditioning and large windows.

First class offers oversized reclining seats, huge windows, and servings of fruit, pastries, coffee, and juice.

Driving in the dome class allows the traveler to have panoramic views inside the glass-lined vintage cars along with snacks and sparkling wine.

In the Deluxe Lounge you’ll find lounge-style amenities, a private cash bar, and access to the rear deck. The living room has plush seating, large windows, sandwiches, and sparkling wine.

A new level of service is the luxury dome that combines views in the observation dome and the opulence of the saloon class.

Before and after the tour, guests also have the opportunity to stay at the 3-diamond Grand Canyon Railway Hotel reminiscent of the centuries-old train station that housed the original hotel.

In addition to varying degrees of room, visitors will find numerous amenities and restaurants.

The Grand Canyon Railroad large RV park is also part of the rail property and includes 8 “buddy” sites, 51 return sites, 65 pass-through sites, full service laundry facilities, convenience store, pets, playground for children, sports courts, wireless internet and shuttle service to the warehouse.

Visitors will find a picnic pavilion, exercise trail, cafe, gift shop, swimming pool, gym, and Wild West show.

There are several rim travel packages and some can be customized to include a day trip into the canyon, a floating river, and a wildlife park driving tour.

For a real thrill, make your next adventure a train tour.
